I’m Audrey Clement, Independent candidate for Arlington County Board on November 4.
In a liberal jurisdiction like Arlington County, it’s tempting to vote the blue ballot handed out at the polls. Yet there are serious problems with candidates at both the top and bottom of the Democratic ticket.
Gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger says she’s unhappy at being confronted about the vile comments her running mate Attorney General candidate Jay Jones directed at a former GOP colleague in the General Assembly. Yet Spanberger refuses to do the honorable thing and ask Jones to drop out of the race, even though a background check would probably disqualify him for a job with the state Attorney General’s office.
My opponent incumbent County Board member Takis Karontonis not only endorses Jay Jones, he endorses Missing Middle up-zoning even though Missing Middle doesn’t provide affordable housing, as promised when County Board approved it in 2023.
These questionable stances on important issues for Arlington residents challenges the wisdom of straight ticket voting. If you agree with me that electing officials on the basis of partisan affiliation alone produces undemocratic outcomes, I’m asking for your help at the polls on Election Day to publicize my campaign for County Board
I need supporters like you to discourage straight ticket voting by handing out sample ballots with concrete information about my campaign, including my ranked choices for County Board.
Early voting will continue through Saturday, November 1 at the following locations:
- Courthouse Plaza, 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Ste. 320
- Madison Community Center, 3829 N Stafford St.
- Walter Reed Community Center, 2909 16th St. South

If you volunteer on Election Day, November 4, you do not need to stay at your polling place all day. Even an hour at a precinct will work.
