Volunteers Needed At the Polls

October 18, 2024.

I’m Audrey Clement, the Independent candidate for Arlington County Board on November 5.

Thank you for your past support. It is much appreciated. Today I’m asking for help at the polls.

The Democrats have been hard at work at the early voting polls handing out the Blue Ballot, which encourages straight ticket voting.

While straight ticket voting simplifies the process, it also makes elected officials less accountable, because the voters don’t need to know anything about them other than their party loyalty.

Straight ticket voters are probably unaware, for example, that my Democrat opponent J.D. Spain pays no tax on his principal property in South Arlington.

While I don’t begrudge J.D. any tax exemption to which he is entitled, I know that he cannot fairly represent those like you and me who pay real estate taxes directly or indirectly through our rent.

Supporters like you are needed to discourage straight ticket voting by handing out sample ballots with concrete information about independent candidates like me.

Early voting will continue through Saturday, November 2 at the following locations:

  • Courthouse Plaza, 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Ste. 320
  • Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center, 333 Long Bridge Drive
  • Madison Community Center, 3829 N Stafford St.
  • Walter Reed Community Center, 2909 16th St. South

If you volunteer on Election Day, November 5, you do not need to stay at your polling place all day. Even an hour at a precinct will work.

Please let me know by phone, email or text if you can volunteer as a poll greeter at one of the above locations, and help make County Board accountable to the voters.
